Maria Curuaia

Morro Grande, Amazon Rainforest, Brazil

“We go fishing, work on the land…The only things that we have are those from the forest. So, if we destroy the forest, if we take down the trees, there will be no more of these things.”

Maria Curuaia’s “place of great abundance” is found in the Amazon Rainforests of Morro Grande, Brazil. Maria has deep connections to this precious rainforest region she and her community call home.

Community Case Study

The team continues to conduct Radical Listening sessions across three sites, with plans to expand services to more communities in the region in 2024. Now that the urgent health needs of the communities are being met, Health In Harmony Brazil is working to strengthen the Forest Economy System to help communities market and produce non-timber forest products.
