Dr. Ekoningtyas Margu Wardani

Dr. Ekoningtyas Margu Wardani is the Executive Director of ASRI. Dani has more than 20 years of experience in resource economy, sustainable livelihood, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, Indigenous peoples, national park management, food security, disaster risk management, gender mainstreaming, public health, and public policy. She earned her Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology from Leiden University, focusing on food security, Indigenous People of the Orang Rimba Jambi, and natural resource management. She has held leadership roles in regional and international organizations, including as a Resource Economy and Livelihood Specialist for the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity and leading various research and consultancy projects.

As ASRI's Executive Director, Dani spearheads efforts to scale ASRI’s planetary health model across Indonesia with the initial expansion project in Papua. By strengthening strategic collaborations with government ministries, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities, she leads initiatives to expand ASRI’s impacts, adapting its proven model to diverse ecological and cultural contexts in Indonesia and beyond.
