Jessie Lucey is a family physician living in Los Angeles who had the good fortune to have spent two years working with PIVOT in rural Madagascar. She received her Bachelors in Sustainable Development at St. Andrews University before going to medical school in Cuba, where comprehensive universal healthcare is the norm rather than the exception.

After finishing her family medicine residency at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, she went on to complete a fellowship in Global Health, which led her to participate in staff education and development projects in Mozambique, Malawi, Lesotho, and most recently, Madagascar.

She currently works at the Los Angeles County Men’s Jail, but is thrilled to keep up her malagasy connection. Working in the field of One Health was the culmination and combination of her two lifelong passions, and she is honored to be working alongside the Health in Harmony Team.
