Health in Harmony Celebrates International Women's Day

Several women and a man, including doctors and nurses, happily hold a newborn baby

Happy International Women’s Day – a day to not only celebrate and uplift women everywhere. But we can’t stop at March 8.

Primarily women-led, HIH collaborates with women globally to build better health, livelihoods and futures. One key focus is postnatal health. In Gunung Palung National Park in Indonesian Borneo, Radical Listening identified a need for improved healthcare provision, specifically for women and children. A medical center set up by our Indonesian partners Alam Sehat Lestari  (ASRI) – along with midwifery services, a dental clinic, and tuberculosis treatment – have contributed to a 67% decrease in infant mortality in the region.

Over the next year, we aim to increase this percentage by continuing to listen to local communities.
