Born and raised in Indonesia, I first learned about Health In Harmony when I heard our founder, Kinari Webb, speak at a TED Talk in Seattle. Her story about a small community in Kalimantan, where Health In Harmony was first established, deeply moved me. She shared how the well-being of this community improved through programs offered by our partner, ASRI—initiatives that provided healthcare and alternative livelihoods in exchange for protecting, rather than logging, the surrounding rainforest.
Inspired by this innovative approach, I felt immense gratitude and was honored to accept when the organization invited me to join the Board.
During my tenure, I developed meaningful friendships with fellow board members and staff, and I was continually humbled by the dedication of these individuals working tirelessly to create a healthier planet. I firmly believe that a thriving environment is not a privilege but a fundamental right for every human being.
The reality is that averting climate disaster is an immense challenge—one that requires collective action. Yet, the joy of being part of this mission is knowing that no matter how small one’s contribution may seem, it can create a lasting and meaningful impact.
